Frequently asked

The app says my answer is wrong and I am sure it is right

Write in — this is the most valuable report that can arrive. Give the word, the form, and your answer. Correct conjugation is the product here, and an error in it takes priority over everything else.

I typed the form in kana and it was accepted — is that right?

Yes, deliberately. The app tests your knowledge of conjugation, not your fluency with an IME. The kanji spelling then appears as a note under your answer. Romaji, on the other hand, is not accepted and will not be — otherwise the exercise would be measuring the Latin alphabet.

Why is there no imperative for some verbs?

Because for a number of words that form is rare, disputed, or plainly unnatural — from ある or 分かる, for instance. The app would rather not ask than teach a form nobody uses.

Why is there no “which form is this” question on some words?

Because the answer would not be one. 見られる is the passive and the potential at once — that is what Japanese looks like, not a defect. Words like that show up in the other exercise types.

Why don't the levels match the JLPT?

Because conjugation does not divide along those lines sensibly. The te-form is needed earlier than the exam list implies, and the passive and the causative rest on the same base and are learned together. The five levels describe how the material builds up.

Can I go to level 4 without finishing the earlier ones?

Yes. A level is not a lock — the order is a sequence, not a condition. The only thing locked is the levels covered by the purchase.

I lost my streak even though I practiced

A study day starts at the hour set in Settings (4:00 by default), not at midnight — a session at 0:30 still belongs to the evening before. A streak breaks only after a whole day missed, so one evening without study does not reset it.

I bought Premium and have no access

Settings → “Restore purchases”. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it works on every device signed in to that same account. If that does not help, write in.

Is the purchase one-time?

Yes. One purchase, access forever, no subscription and no renewals.

Will I lose my progress if I change phones?

You do not have to. Progress is stored on the device alone, but Settings has “Export progress” and “Import progress” — you move the file however you like, and the import replaces everything on the new device. The purchase travels with your Apple Account. There is no iCloud sync, and none is needed for this.

Does the app work without internet?

Entirely. Apart from handling a purchase it makes no network request.
