Something in the Japanese looks wrong

Please tell me — this is the most useful kind of message I can get. The honorific register is exactly the material where a rule stated half a degree too strongly teaches an untruth, and it is the one thing a learner cannot spot on their own. Include the item and the sentence if you can.

"Nobody actually says that"

Also worth writing about, and not the same complaint as the one above. A form can be correctly built and still be something no one says — and then the app has no right to teach it. Tell me which sentence, and where you have heard it differently.

A question felt unfair

If one of the wrong options looked like it could also be correct, that is a bug in the content, not in your Japanese. Tell me which question it was.

The assessment in Check looks wrong

The assessment in the Check tab is written by a language model, and it can be wrong — in either direction. Write to me, and paste your sentence and the person you chose into the message: the server does not keep your sentence, so without it I have no way to see what happened. A check result does not count towards your progress, so a model's mistake does not damage your learning.

I can't see the Check tab

The tab appears only on a device that can confirm the app is genuine through Apple's App Attest. On a device that does not support it, the tab is not there, and the rest of the app works unchanged. Checking itself needs an internet connection.

Free checks and the subscription

Everyone gets a few free checks every month, with or without Premium. When they run out, the app shows when they come back. More checks come with the AI Check subscription, monthly or yearly. It renews automatically until you turn it off — do that in your Apple Account settings or with Manage subscription, at least a day before the paid period ends. The subscription does not unlock levels, and Premium does not include the subscription.

I bought something and the app doesn't see it

Use Restore purchases — it is in Settings and on the subscription screen. Purchases belong to your Apple Account, so they come back on any device signed in with the same account. Refunds are handled by Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Why is there no typing in the exercises

Deliberate. Typing お召し上がりください in kana on a phone is a punishment, and what is being measured is your choice of register, not your thumb. In the exercises you answer by tapping tiles and picking a variant — which means a typo can never be mistaken for not knowing, and the statistics say something about the teaching alone. The one place where you type is Check, because there the subject is your own sentence.

Pronunciation

The speaker button reads Japanese sentences with the speech synthesizer built into iOS, entirely on the device and with no internet. The voices are installed by the system, not by the app.

I lost my progress

Progress lives on the device. Deleting the app deletes it, and there is nothing to restore it from — there is no account, and the server that Check talks to knows nothing about your learning. You can make a copy with Export progress in Settings and load it back with Import progress.
