Joshi practices Japanese particles: は, が, を, に, で and the rest. Below are the answers to the questions that come up most often. If yours is not here, write in.

Frequently asked
The app says my answer is wrong and I am sure it is right
Write in — this is the most valuable report that can arrive. Give the sentence and your answer. Particles can be interchangeable, and a sentence where two of them are correct should never have made it into an exercise. A report like that comes before everything else.
Why is the variant I expected missing from some sentences?
Because a wrong variant has to be genuinely wrong in that sentence. A particle that produces a correct sentence with a different meaning is not a wrong variant — it is a second answer. That is why sentences with は do not offer も, even though both can be right in that slot.
How does the app know I confuse に with で, rather than just knowing に poorly?
Because it counts three things separately: the particle itself, its particular role, and the pair. A gapped sentence whose variants are に and で is evidence about that pair — and only sentences like that raise it. That is why “weakest spots” can show you に ↔ で instead of separate percentages for に and for で.
Why is the translation hidden by default?
Because with the translation in view you pick the particle to fit the English sentence instead of reading the Japanese one — and you end up practicing something other than what you think. Settings → Appearance → “Translation” lets you set it to “always” or turn it off completely.
Why don't the levels match the JLPT?
Because a particle does not divide along those lines sensibly. に for a time is N5, for a destination N4, in the passive higher still — and they are learned side by side, because they get confused with each other, not with the rest of their own level. The five levels describe how the material actually builds up.
Can I go to level 4 without finishing the earlier ones?
Yes. A level is not a lock — the order is a sequence, not a condition. The only thing locked is the levels covered by the purchase.
I lost my streak even though I practiced
A study day starts at the hour set in Settings (4:00 by default), not at midnight — a session at 0:30 still belongs to the evening before. A streak breaks only after a whole day missed, so one evening without study does not reset it.
I bought Premium and have no access
Settings → “Restore purchases”. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it works on every device signed in to that same account. If that does not help, write in.
Is the purchase one-time?
Yes. One purchase, access forever, no subscription and no renewals.
Will I lose my progress if I change phones?
You do not have to. Progress is stored on the device alone, but Settings has “Export progress” and “Import progress” — you move the file however you like, and the import replaces everything on the new device. The purchase travels with your Apple Account. There is no iCloud sync, and none is needed for this.
Does the app work without internet?
Entirely. Apart from handling a purchase it makes no network request.
