Kaname — Japanese grammar for the JLPT
The fastest way to reach me: jakub.dwojak+kaname@hotmail.com. I usually reply within a few working days.
Writing from inside the app
In the app, open Settings → Support. There are two buttons:
- Suggest a feature — prepares a message with room to describe the idea.
- Report a bug — prepares a message with a short template and the app version and device model already filled in.
Both open your mail app with the text ready. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and you can change anything before you do.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I get for free?
- All of JLPT level N5, with its contrast pairs and all four exercise types. This is real studying rather than a demo — there is no time limit and no session limit. On top of that, a few AI analysis calls each month, at no charge.
- What does a purchase unlock?
- Levels N4, N3, N2 and N1 with their contrast pairs — singly, in bundles, or all at once. It is a one-time purchase: access does not expire, and the full set costs less than the levels bought separately. The AI Analysis subscription is a separate thing; it does not cover the JLPT material and never will.
- How does the AI Analysis subscription work?
- AI analysis is billed monthly or yearly, because it is the only part of the app that costs something every time it is used. It renews automatically until you turn it off, which you do in your Apple ID settings, at the latest a day before the paid period ends. Without a subscription you get a few free calls every month, and the rest of the app is unaffected.
- Is there an English version?
- Yes, since the first release. Both the interface and the content are in English — grammar explanations, sentence translations and the reasoning behind contrast pairs. The content language switches independently of the menu language (Settings → Content language), so you can study from English explanations with a Polish interface. Switching does not touch your progress, because patterns are keyed by identifier rather than by text.
- I bought the material, but after changing phones it is locked again.
- Open Settings → Purchases → Restore purchases. The same button is on the purchase screen and on the AI Analysis screen. The purchase is tied to your Apple ID, so you can restore it on any device signed in with that same account. Make sure it is the Apple ID the purchase was made with.
- Does the app work offline?
- The learning — reviews, every question type, the plan and your progress — works entirely without a connection. The internet is needed when buying or restoring a purchase, because the App Store handles that, and for AI analysis, which is the only feature that uses a server.
- Is my progress stored anywhere outside my phone?
- No. Everything stays on the device. If you want to protect your progress before changing phones or deleting the app, use Settings → Data → Export data and keep the file. On the new device, load it with Import data.
- I have finished all of N5. What happens without a purchase?
- The app moves into consolidation: it introduces no new material, but keeps scheduling reviews of what you already know and aims exercises at your weakest spots. The learning does not stop.
- Where do the explanations and example sentences come from?
- All explanations and examples were written for this app. They do not come from textbooks or from other apps.
- I found a mistake in the grammar.
- Please write in — it is the most valuable report I can get. Include the pattern and the sentence your remark concerns.
- How do I request a refund?
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by the developer. Requests go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
Privacy
The learning runs entirely on your device and without an internet connection. The only feature that sends anything is the optional AI analysis, and it sends only the sentence you type into it. The details are in the privacy policy.
